Our Mission

Tyler AIDS Services is committed to working with and assisting persons affected by or living with HIV/AIDS and their families by creating opportunities to improve and enhance their quality of life.

Program goals, which flow from TAS’ Mission are:

  1. Enable people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to improve their quality of life;
  2. Empower women and girls to make informed choices about their sexuality and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS in their community; and
  3. Give hope to the general public by helping them improve their quality of life through HIV/AIDS prevention education and training.

TAS subscribes to the current Administration’s 2010 National HIV/AIDS Strategy Goals to (1) Reduce HIV incidence, (2) Increase access to care for people living with HIV, and (3) Reduce HIV related disparities, and the Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI) Program Assessment Rating Tool to (1) Prevent disease and improve the health of individuals and communities, (2) Reduce and, ultimately, eliminate health disparities, and (3) Promote effective, sustainable, and consistent health systems.

TAS is fully committed to upholding the Office of Women’s Health Performance Measures which are to (1) Increasing the percentage of women-specific Healthy People 2010 objectives and sub-objectives that are on target and moving in the right direction, (2) Expanding the number of users of OWH communications, and (3) Increasing the number of people that participate in OWH-funded programs in the cause of alleviating the plight of HIV/AIDS in the nation’s quest to find a cure.
